Distinguishing Characteristics

The Building Maintenance series is used by County departments to provide maintenance, repair, and remodeling ofCounty owned and leased building structures and related systems.

The applicant is requesting to modify Conditional Use applications Z0160-09 and Z0351-02 to use a portion of the current building for parochial school uses. The applicant proposes a phased approach to opening the school use with the maximum number of 150 students using the existing building and parking areas. No expansion of the building is proposed.

The applicant is seeking a Non-Conforming Use (NCU) verification of a 1930 dwelling that does not conform with the front setback standards for the RRFF-5 Zoning District, as stated in ZDO Table 316-2. Additionally, the applicant is seeking an alteration of an NCU for a roof replacement and structural upgrades and improvements to the existing dwelling.

The City of Sandy is proposing upgrades to the existing water treatment facility through land use file Z0273-25. The proposal includes a metal roof structure over part of the system, and an underground tank that will not meet the minimum 30 foot front setbacks measured from the northern edge of the road easement and thus the applicant is requesting a variance to that setback through Z0274-25. The applicant requested that the applications be reviewed concurrently.

The applicant proposed a Non-Conforming Use verification for a detached garage built in 1962, that does not comply with the 10-foot side setback standard in the RRFF-5 zone, stated in Table 316-2 of the ZDO. This encroaches into SE side setback area. The application also requested retroactive approval for an alteration of a non-conforming use for the attic addition on top of the garage, added in 2019. The modification for the attic addition was approved by County staff, with conditions that the applicant retroactively apply for and receive Building Permits for the 2019 attic addition.

The altered public utility facility will include transmission, distribution and communication lines and added transmission capacity along the entire project length. Pole heights will increase. Because the review process for utility facilities in the EFU zone is different than the process in the RRFF-5 zone, the applicant also requests approval through File Z0313-25 of a “utility facility necessary for public service” to replace seven existing poles at Rosemont Substation with taller transmission poles to match the rest of the corridor.

Clackamas County is offering the Rent Well course in Spanish from September 24 to November 5. Register as soon as possible! Renting a safe and affordable home can be challenging.

Clackamas County recorded five homicides during 2022. The homicides represent four incidents of homicidal violence as two of the victims were killed in a single incident.  One homicide remains unsolved, another resulted in a murder-suicide and the remaining three homicides resulted in arrests and grand jury indictments:

Oregon City, OR - Clackamas County Clerk Catherine McMullen will officiate wedding ceremonies at her office on Valentine’s Day. The Recording Division of the Office of the County Clerk will offer appointments and take walk-in couples all day on Wednesday, Feb. 14. The office will be decorated for the big day and include a photo booth station. 

OREGON CITY, Or. – If you receive a call from someone claiming that you missed jury duty and are facing arrest or fines, you’re dealing with a scammer, said Clackamas County District Attorney John Wentworth.

The District Attorney’s Office has received several calls recently from people who have been targeted by scammers demanding personal information and payment of fees to avoid arrest, Wentworth said.

One District Attorney’s Office employee was a target of the scam and was told he had to pay $6,000 to avoid prosecution. “He sounded pretty convincing,” the employee said.
