Building a Strong Advisory Council

The Clackamas County Veterans Advisory Council plays a critical role in ensuring that Veterans living in Clackamas County are fully supported.

Activities (work with VAC to identify actions we can take to increase membership)

    • Create electronic way to share the flier
  • Re-invigorate VAC Subcommittees –
    • Outreach Committee
    • Recruitment and Retention of VAC Members

Ensure that Veterans and their families living in Clackamas County know about the County Veterans Services Office, understands how to access those services, and feels that they belong

Many Veterans and their family members are not accessing all of the Veterans Administration benefits that they earned through their military service.

Host a Veterans Expo

This event will bring together providers, Veterans, and their families to share resources and make connections so that Clackamas County Veterans and their supporters understand the services available, and how to access them.

Goal: Create a culture of connectedness among the vendors to improve service to veterans.

  • Provide training on culturally responsive care for veterans
  • Host an icebreaker / networking activity for vendors
