DA sealOREGON CITY, Or. — An Oregon City man pleaded guilty Wednesday to the second-degree murder of his wife.

Mugshot of Anthony Wessel Judge Cody Weston sentenced Anthony Wessel, 41, to life in prison without eligibility for parole until he has served 25 years.

The case stemmed from when Wessel entered the lobby of the Oregon City Police Department on Nov. 13, 2023, saying he wanted to turn himself in for killing his wife, 37-year-old Anna Wessel.

Police later found his wife at the Wessel home where they also discovered a note Wessel had written that was directed to police. In the note, Wessel wrote he had planned to commit a murder-suicide.

However, there was a subsequent note in the margin that stated Wessel instead decided to turn himself in to police. A subsequent search by police revealed other written materials describing that Wessel had planned this crime.

This case was handled by Oregon City Police and the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office.
