Boring CPO Meeting of July 1, 2025

The meeting was held at the Boring Grange. Notice of this meeting was made by press release to newspapers of general and local circulation throughout the area. CPO members were also contacted by email or telephone. Those in attendance who had not previously registered were asked to register as CPO members if they reside or own a business within the CPO boundaries. Those eligible to vote are people who have attended two of the last twelve CPO meetings.

The meeting was called to order at 7:01pm by CPO Chair Michael Fitz, who led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Boring CPO Board was introduced.

In attendance were: Mike Fitz, Steve Bates, Betty Bates, Doug Glad, Connie Glad, Pam Burback, Greg Marston, Alan and Pennie Shaw, Kathy Bigelow, Michelle Sandell, Karl Sandell, Diane Kelso, Peter Hoffman, Jim Valberg, Matt Job, John Lee, James Long, Bruce Haney, Tanya Hamell. Nancy Edwards

Guest Speaker: In the News by Mike Fitz
Review of gas prices and local and National News. 152MPH in a 55MPH ticket was written in Boring (new record for
Oregon). Fatality accident, Orient and Revenue.

Community Reports:
Boring-Damascus Grange & Park Committee – No Report

  • Water District –
  • Clackamas Fire Department – Matt Job
  • 81 calls. Mutual Aid to several locations. The Rowena Fire where they saved several homes. Hand Crew spent 2 weeks in Canada and were presently in Alaska. Station 12 opened and outside burning is closed.

Boring Oregon Foundation – Steve Bates
Boring and Dull Day is 6 weeks away. The truck Boring Garden Center has loaned us in the past is broke down so we need pickup trucks to haul the equipment from Bates garage to the park and back. Meet at Bates 9 am Sat the 9th.

And take down 2PM Sunday. The owner of the property for Community Center has a broken back so negotiation is on hold. Blue Bag reminder. Parade thru the Park.

Action Committee: James Long

  • James must resign because of work schedule. Since no replacement has been found James made a motion to disband second John Lee. Funds to go to the CPO. Motion Approved

CPO Minutes for June 2025 were distributed. There were approved with the correction it was Tanya Hamell not Diane
Kelso that talked to the park worker.


A Moment in Boring History: Bruce Haney
Bruce told the story of Joseph Boring. William Borings 1/2 brother.

Pam Burback: Vice Chair
Attended the C4 Summit where they discussed the Sunrise corridor. They pushed back 17 million from TriMet. Tolls are coming unless we vote against them. Always are looking for recommendations to take to these meetings. Pam also mentioned the lights on 212 and Richey are out of proper timing.

Treasurer’s Report: John Lee
The Treasurer reported that there was no change. $1319.00. Action Com. Funds are included in that total.
