CLACKAMAS FIRE-Sue
Chief Nick Browne & Steve Deters questions and answers on Annexation of Sandy Fire District.
*Sue introduced Chief Browne and Asst Chief Deters, they gave a presentation regarding the Annexation of Sandy Fire:
**Annexation secures long-term fire and EMS Service for Sandy
**Builds on improvements made since initial contract in 2021
**More firefighters, faster response, expanded rescue coverage
**Permanent access to regional equipment and specialty teams
**Stronger wildfire readiness and shared training resources
Clackamas has a superior wildfire team, 1 level under Hot Shot status, highly regarded and the only fire department, in Oregon, to have this type of team.
**Local stations and volunteer programs remain open and staffed
**Sandy gains district board and voting representation.
**Estimate monthly tax cost increase: under $5 per month for most homes.
*Is the Sportsman’s Breakfast still happening. Answer: Yes, but has been moved to October, due to date conflicts. Sponsored by the Sandy Kiwanis.
*How to address Estacada September 2020. Chief Browne acknowledges there were some failures. With 144 working fires in region, they were spread thin, covering fires in Estacada, Molalla, Colton etc. Chief Browne called Cal Fire for an After-Action Review to address the situation. They exposed some good as well as some needed improvements. Clackamas Fire has met all requirements. Unfortunately, lost trust of the community.
*Next Meet the Chief: April 27 at 7 PM, Sandy Fire Annex. Virtual or in person.
FIRE WORKSHOP-Saturday April 25th-Marge
