- Members agreed that any CPO or Hamlet member can register to attend the upcoming community leaders meeting on June 23, 2025.
- PGA will send invitations to contacts for all active and inactive CPOs. Tonia will share PGA’s master list with Karen and Brent for review and any updates.
- Members also agreed that elected officials, other than the commissioners, will not be invited since the goal of this meeting is to have a two-way conversation between community leaders and the commissioners.
- PGA will invite the county department directors to attend the meeting. The invitation is to observe but not participate in the meeting.
- CCI will consider organizing a different opportunity with the sheriff for a similar two-way conversation.
- Public Comment: Community Planning Organization (CPO) Listening Session
- Chair Bjorklund reviewed the themes from the 2024 Listening Session and Survey input, what CCI has done as a result, and the both ongoing and future CCI initiatives. She said the goal of today’s listening session, like the inaugural 2024 session, was to gather input and learn of issues, concerns and challenges facing CPOs.
- Spokespersons for six CPOs registered to speak. Based on the amount of time on the agenda and the number of CPOs, the maximum allotted time for each CPO to speak was approximately 10 minutes.
- The following spokespeople presented comments and concerns on a variety of subjects on behalf of their community planning organizations [these remarks will be in a separate CCI summary document, along with comments that CCI received by email from other CPOs]:
- Lance Ward, Interim Chair, Redland – Viola – Fischers Mill CPO
- Donna Hazel, Secretary, Redland – Viola – Fischers Mill CPO
- Jane Morrison, Representative, Jennings Lodge CPO
- Randall Yamada, Chair, Stafford-Tualatin Valley CPO
- Pat Erdenberger Chair, Hoodland CPO
- Tammy Stevens, Chair of the Hamlet and CPO of Beavercreek
- Nick Rinard, President, Government Camp CPO
- After the CPO representatives concluded their respective remarks, Chair Bjorklund opened the floor to questions and comments from other attendees. Both CCI members and CPO representatives contributed comments and questions. Emails from CPOs with listed concerns submitted prior to the listening session will be added to information and input gathered during the session.
- Chair Bjorklund said that CCI will take the information gleaned from the listening session and share it with relevant departments where appropriate. CCI will also conduct follow-up discussions at subsequent CCI meetings to determine what other kinds of actions to pursue in its overview role.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
Next Meeting: Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 6 – 8 p.m. via Zoom.
