CSBG Annual Report
Jennifer introduced the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) report. It is an annual report that measures how well Community Action Agencies (CAA), which Clackamas County Social Services is, are meeting mandated benchmarks. Tracy explained that there was a new statewide CAA that was recognized which caused the grant to be split amongst 17 CAA instead of 16. She also pointed out that the CSBG has stayed the same for several years and is unlikely to grow any time soon. Jennifer went through the performance indicators that SSD directly support including housing, health, and civic engagement.
Community Need Assessment Update
Jennifer let the CAB know that there are currently three community forums planned as a follow-up to the Community Needs Assessment. The forums will take place in Molalla, Sandy, and Milwaukie. These forums will share the findings of the CNA with the community and ask attendees if there is anything more they would like SSD to address. SSD employees will also be attending community events before the forums to speak informally with community members. CAB members are encouraged to attend and help speak with the community. Jennifer will send out an email to the CAB with further details. Tracy let the CAB know that the BCC is being invited to these events. Jennifer concluded by letting the CAB know that once the CNA is finalized the CAB will help develop a strategic plan.
CAB Goals and Future
Adam asked members for feedback on how the CAB is run. He wants to make sure that members are engaged feel that their time is well spent. He brought up inviting more members to help create the agenda and participate in more community presentations. Tracy then introduced an activity where members could use post it notes to answer questions about what is or is not working with the CAB and share ideas about how to reinvigorate the board. Jennifer and Tracy will compile these answers and share them with the CAB.
Director/Member/Subcommittee Updates
- Tracy let the CAB members know about the upcoming SSD volunteer appreciation day.
- Sean proposed moving the September CAB meeting from the first Monday to the second Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.
- Sean will invite all members to the Exec meeting to provide feedback on the agenda for September.
