OREGON CITY, Or. – A Gresham man was sentenced to 80 months in prison Friday in Clackamas County Circuit Court for stabbing an elderly man three times after unsuccessfully trying to steal the victim’s Porsche.
Jesus Ascenio-Molina, 31, pleaded guilty to Robbery in the Second Degree and Assault in the Second Degree.
Molina approached the 86-year-old victim on December 27, 2024, as the man loaded groceries into his car at a Fred Meyer store, 8955 SE 82nd Avenue.
Molina told the man he admired the man’s car, a 2011 Porsche Panamera, and twice asked for the keys. When the victim refused, Molina stabbed him twice in the back and once in the right ribcage.
Molina fled to a nearby apartment complex where Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested him two hours later. The victim was taken by ambulance to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital.
“I’m happy seeing this guy off the street,” the victim he told Circuit Judge Todd Van Rysselberghe prior to sentencing.
Ascenio-Molina apologized to the victim in court for the assault. “I wasn’t thinking straight,” he said.
Clackamas County Deputy District Attorney Brian Powell, who prosecuted the case, noted that Ascenio-Molina has past convictions for assault and theft.
