OREGON CITY, Or. -- North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) has been awarded a $1 million Nature in Neighborhoods Capital grant from Metro to support the development of a new park in the Jennings Lodge community.

In collaboration with the Oregon City School District, NCPRD officials plan to transform an underutilized section of the Jennings Lodge Campus into a 1.9-acre neighborhood park. The park's design will feature an expansive tree canopy and meadow, a versatile lawn area, a network of walking pathways, and two nature-inspired playgrounds designed for children of all ages and abilities.

“We’re thankful to Metro for this grant,” said NCPRD Director Paul Savas. “This funding will help address a longstanding need for a park in an historically underserved area of the District.”

The estimated total cost of the park project is $2.5 million. Once the project is fully funded, construction is anticipated to commence in spring 2026. Find out more information on the project.

Metro’s Nature in Neighborhoods grants support community projects and programs across the region, from local park improvements to stream restoration to hands-on nature education for people of all ages and backgrounds. The grants can also go to projects that increase people’s experience of nature in their neighborhoods, with an emphasis on benefitting historically marginalized communities. The Park at the Jennings Lodge Campus Project was one of 12 parks and nature projects chosen from across greater Portland.
