OREGON CITY, Or. -- An armed man who was in a two-hour standoff with a SWAT team on July 8 pleaded guilty Friday to several criminal charges arising from the confrontation.

Rian Keith Pittman, 35, pleaded guilty in Clackamas County Circuit Court to two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. Pittman was sentenced to 60 months in prison.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies and Milwaukie Police Department officers responded around 9:00 p.m. to a report of a man firing a gun inside a house in the 6200 block of Southeast Monroe Street, near Milwaukie in unincorporated Clackamas County.

Deputies found residents of the home outside the house. They told deputies that Pittman, who also lived in the house, threatened them with a semi-automatic handgun and was shooting the weapon inside the house.

The Clackamas County Special Weapons and Tactics Team and a Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene. Negotiators spoke by phone with Pittman and he surrendered just after 11:00 p.m. Deputies searched the house and recovered a handgun.

Pittman has criminal convictions in Californian, Washington, Oregon and Nevada.

Deputy District Attorney Josh Cutino prosecuted the case.
