Clackamas County staff were proud to join volunteers at the annual Down the River Cleanup on Sunday. Sept. 7, an event dedicated to caring for the Clackamas River and the communities that depend on it. The cleanup brought together residents, nonprofits, businesses, and agencies to remove trash from the river and raise awareness about protecting this vital natural resource.
County staff also shared information about the Sunrise Corridor Vision Plan and invited community members to get involved in the Sunrise Community Coalition. The Vision Plan, shaped by more than 1,500 local voices, highlights priorities such as safety, open space, public health, and improved access to the river. The Coalition is open to all and provides opportunities to help turn community priorities into real projects.
Events like the Down the River Cleanup reflect the values at the heart of the Sunrise Corridor Project: bringing people together to protect natural resources, strengthen neighborhoods, and create a healthier, more connected future.
