OREGON CITY, Or. -- A Tukwila, Wash., man accused of sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled woman last year was sentenced to 48 months in prison Thursday.
Darryl Anthony Pearson, 36, pled guilty in Clackamas County Circuit Court to Attempted Sexual Abuse in the First Degree last month.
The victim is a 37-year-old woman who has been diagnosed with autism and fetal alcohol syndrome. She lives in a group home and has a legal guardian.
The victim told police Pearson approached her at an Oregon City shopping center on Sept. 16, 2024 and offered her $100 to have sex with him. She refused. He offered her a ride home and she accepted. Pearson then drove her to a Gladstone church parking lot where he sexually assaulted her.
The victim promptly reported the assault to police. She was taken to the hospital where she was examined and a DNA sample collected. Investigators submitted the sample to the Oregon State Police DNA database and it matched with Pearson.
Pearson initially denied being present in Oregon City on Sept. 16. In fact, Pearson was in Clackamas County Circuit Court that day where he pled guilty to Theft in the Second Degree, Attempting to Elude a Police Officer and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. He was sentenced to 18 months on probation.
Pearson has numerous convictions in Washington state for crimes including burglary, robbery and assaulting a child.
