OREGON CITY, Or. -- The Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office has issued an update on an officer-involved shooting last week.

At 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2025, Deputy Lindsay Bailey of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence on Southeast 362 Avenue near Dee Zee Court in response to a report that a man, Daniel Dale Zimmerman (44 years old, white male), had set fire to a utility trailer.

Zimmerman’s father called 911 to report the backyard fire and alerted law enforcement that Daniel Zimmerman was agitated, intoxicated, had mental health issues and a history of fighting with law enforcement. Zimmerman lived with his father.

When Deputy Bailey and an Oregon State Police Trooper arrived, they immediately observed the fire, which was growing in size.

As Deputy Bailey exited her car, Daniel Zimmerman sprinted from the backyard directly at her screaming in an aggressive manner. Zimmerman disregarded commands to stop and to show officers his hands. When Zimmerman was within several feet of Deputy Bailey, she fired one round that struck his torso.

Zimmerman was immediately rendered medical aid and transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.

He currently is in stable condition and his injury did not require surgery. Zimmerman’s actions were captured on Deputy Bailey’s body-worn camera.

Deputy Bailey has been a certified police officer since 2021 and a deputy with Clackamas County since July 2024.

Clackamas Fire responded to the scene and subdued the blaze before it caused additional property damage.

Pursuant to Clackamas County Critical Incident protocol, this matter will be submitted to a Clackamas County grand Jury for an evaluation of the use of deadly physical force. The investigation is being led by the Lake Oswego and West Linn Police Departments in coordination with the Clackamas County Major Crimes Team. There will be no further comment until Grand Jury is complete.
