Sheriff’s Office responds to drowning at Carver Park

On July 27, 2025, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a marine rescue call on the Clackamas River near Carver Park, located at 14888 S Springwater Avenue in unincorporated Clackamas County. Shortly after 6:45 p.m., a woman reported that her husband had gone underwater near the park and had not resurfaced for 30 minutes.

Members of the Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium, including Clackamas Fire and American Medical Response (AMR) responded to the location to search for the missing person.

UPDATE (July 17, 2025): Missing person Ralph Sawyer located

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Ralph Sawyer was located safely. It was reported to the Sheriff’s Office that he found his car on East Still Creek Road and drove it back to his home in Gresham. Mr. Sawyer showed up to a neighbor’s house tired, cold, dirty, and worn out. Gresham Police confirmed it was him and he was transported to a local hospital to be checked out.

Sheriff's Office responds to fatal crash at SE 97th Avenue and SE Park Mountain Lane

Shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of SE 97th Avenue and SE Park Mountain Lane in unincorporated Clackamas County. A vehicle had reportedly crashed and gone down an embankment into a wooded area, coming to rest upside down. Witnesses reported hearing children inside the vehicle.

When deputies arrived at the crash scene, a witness had retrieved one child, age 4, from the 2021 Jeep Compass, and told first responders that another child was still inside.

Sheriff's Office investigates June 23 fatal crash involving truck, motorcycle

On June 23, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies and investigators responded to a fatal traffic crash in Boring.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday, June 23, deputies responded to a report of a traffic crash at the intersection of SE Orient Drive and SE Joette Drive in Boring. The crash involved a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a commercial box truck. The motorcycle rider was on the ground, with bystanders performing CPR.
