Your fees have been or will be paid via your MasterCard or Visa when you take out a permit electronically. The State of Oregon will automatically credit payments to the County that have been made to the state when the permit in question is under our jurisdiction.
The receipt you get from the state e-permitting system is your authority to begin work, but the data must be transferred to the County permit system and a permit number assigned so the work can be tracked and inspections scheduled. If you file for a permit during the business day, every effort will be made to send you a county permit that day. For that purpose, please include your FAX number in your application so we can send you the permit that way.Permits for applications without a FAX number may be mailed to you by regular surface mail. If you apply for a permit outside of normal business hours, your permit will be processed the next business day.
Inspections cannot be scheduled on any permit until the permit is issued by the County. To schedule an inspection, contact our Automated Inspection Request System at 503-742-4720. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Once a permit application has been accepted and processed, requests for refunds can be submitted within 180 days of the date of issuance. The permit applicant must submit a written request to our office for a refund. Our mailing address is:
Building Codes Division
Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development
150 Beavercreek Rd.
Oregon City, OR 97045
Requests may also be sent in by FAX at 503-742-4741.
Refunds will not be made if work has been done or inspections made under the authority of the permit.
Our office will fully refund any fee that we erroneously paid or collected. For all other fees, the maximum refund will be 80% of the permit fee. State surcharges are not included in the calculation and will not be refunded. The county will keep at least $25 of the permit fee as a handling cost, regardless of the percentage calculation. Regular customers may be able to transfer permit credits from old permits to new applications. Please contact the office at 503-742-4400 if that is your choice.
As an example, suppose the permit fee was $65. An 80% refund would equal $52. However, when the $25 handling fee is considered, the refund would have to be adjusted to $40..
