  • Teresa brought the meeting to order at 4:36pm   
  • NARRA acronym needs to be updated on the acronym list

  • Priorities for 2026 – Refine list from February discussion and prioritize work for 2026 
    • Idea is to create one overarching goal that the committee can default back to for guidance. Main Goal – Utilize Prevention strategies for to make prevention level services– Be ahead of the legislative updates, drive legislation 
      • Have task focused sub committees 
    • Request that we check in on sub goals either quarterly or semi annually  
    • Deflection program Coordinator – check in frequently as more information develops with each check-in.
    • 4.7 mil in behavioral health housing investment updates – maintain check-ins on progress
    • Mobile Crisis Response-use of data and advocacy – Retrieve data quarterly and be intentional with timing to create awareness for budget hearings
    • Karen – provide one pagers and data on what is on the “watch list” and any information she gets. MHAC members can work with legislatures to help with advocacy.
    • Get a better understanding of what services are supported/funded by Clackamas County Government?
    • Data collected on the schools – Reevaluate data for relevancy and request data points from participated schools
    • Annual Check-in with the substance use coordinator for the Oregon Dept of Education
    • Clackamas County Commissioners – What are their commitments and asks?
  • Karen will try to provide a spreadsheet of which providers is BHD supporting, funding amount, and contracts.

     

  • Summarize this year’s goals in 3 weeks time? (Sara Clement, Teresa Melville, Bo, Dave, Mary Ann, beto)

     

Committee updates
  • Advocacy and Legislative  
    • Document – MHAC Advocacy Work Group Proposal
      • MHAC supports BHD proposed budget and request additional investments of general funds (1. Restore $ for promotion and prevention Mental Health in Youth), (2. $266,212 to preserve Wraparound access to timely youth services)
      • Anticipate the budget committee’s process and advocate for more funding
  • Nominating Committee 
    • Teresa put in motion to renew Sara Clement and Sheri Price membership. Bo second. Vote passed. Sara Clement accepts, Sheri Price is pending on her response.
  • Suicide Prevention Coalition 
    • Donna Marie is now the head of the Clackamas County Suicide Prevention Committee

 

 

  • Document – MHAC Advocacy Work Group Proposal (Document to be updated with new language)

     

  • Teresa will forward information on how to get involved with the Suicide prevention committee

 

Round Table

Roundtable and Wrap-up 

  • Bo – Advocacy Day was a success, 500 people showed up to the event.
  • Pam – Pediatric conference
  • Dave – June 25th, tickets for a comedy play at the community college in Oregon city, fundraiser
  • Beto – Will take the month of May off, possibly longer. Request that we gather the research and consolidate it to make tangible outcomes.
  • Sara – 3-year project was awarded a 3 million dollar grant, chosen for another steering committee for the next 3 years.
  • Teresa – Clackamas county is having an immigration forum Wed April 15, 2026, 3:30-4:30. Could use bilingual translators since the event is in Spanish, NAMI Comedy show in 2027 – recommend you go.
  • Bill – A document that could be useful to the group, requesting to forward it along.
