Review and Adoption of MinutesFebruary 21, 2025, minutes adopted with updates to attendance and adjourned time
New Member VoteSue Leslie and Jeanie Schuster were approved by the ASAC at large for membership. Sean will work with PGA to get their applications before the Bord of County Commissioners. Sonya, Lynne, and Joyce are also missing their letters of approval despite having been approved. Sean will reach out to PGA to find those letters.
Adult Community Center Visit UpdateMarge reviewed the dates of the community center visits and requested that each councilmember visit at least one center this year. Joyce will be attending every visit and will be taking over as the Community Center Liaison. Council members will meet before lunch around 11:30 for each visit. Any number of council members can visit, but the post-meal meeting with the kitchen staff and managers will be limited to five council members. The community centers will be made aware of the number of visiting council members so interested members should reach out to Marge a head of time. Members must pay for their meals, which usually cost between $4.00 and $7.00. On a related note, Dan brought up ASAC members riding along with Meals on Wheels. This was something that ASAC did pre-pandemic but has since fallen by the wayside. Tracy will follow up with Jeanie Butler about these ride-alongs.
Legislative UpdateNicole Hazelbaker from the Oregon Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Disabilities (O4AD) provided a legislative update for the council. She also stressed that there is a lot of uncertainty stemming from the federal government. Some bills that O4AD are watching include HB 3838 which would establish a wage board for in-home care workers, HB 3187 which would address age discrimination in the workplace, and SB 739 which modifies investigation standards for long-term care facilities. She then answered questions from council members about the bills she brought up as well as issues the members felt were important, such as affordable housing for older adults.
Behavioral Health SubcommitteeR.E. presented the Behavioral Health subcommittee charter to the council. This subcommittee is being established in accordance with the most recent Area Plan. The next inaugural meeting of the Behavioral Health.
Progress Reportsubcommittee will be on Thursday, April 17th, at 10:00 am. It will be a hybrid meeting, and anyone interested is welcome to attend.
Clackamas County Behavioral Health PresentatioThe presenter was sick and unable to speak to the council. This presentation will be held at a later meeting
Member Updates

Carol asked about ASAC representation on the Social Services Service Equity Committee (SEC). She and Sonya, who serve on the committee representing other organizations, explained the SEC's workings and goals.

  • Joyce brought up the funding issues facing Social Services and recommending using more volunteer labor to make up for the short fall, though others pointed out that it wasn't as easy as just calling for volunteers.
  • Jeannie wanted a list of the subcommittees that the ASAC has. Sean will send them out.
  • Pat told the council about a successful bingo fundraising campaign that the Molalla community center held as part of a pair of local high schoolers' senior project. The event raised more than $1,000 in two hours.
  • Marge alerted the council to the Canby father-daughter dance at the high school that will raise funds for the Rotary Club.
  • Carol described the Honor Flights program that she works with. It flies veterans to Washinton D.C. and during the flight there is a mail call where veterans are given cards, posters, drawings, and other items as a token of gratitude. There will be a flight in April and she is looking for donations
AdjournThe meeting was adjourned at 11:56 am.
