Long, sunny days are here, and there’s no better time to explore the beauty and adventure waiting in Clackamas County’s parks.
Whether you’re planning a quiet picnic, weekend camping trip, or spontaneous afternoon hike, a few new updates will help you make the most of your summer visit.
Know Before You Go: Parking & Access Updates
Starting July 1, Clackamas County is introducing updated parking options across its park system to help maintain clean, safe, and accessible outdoor spaces for all. Here's what to expect:
- Less-developed parks like Wagon Wheel and Feldheimer will now have a $5 daily parking fee, payable by text only.
- More developed parks, such as Barton and Carver, will continue with a $9 daily fee.
- The Boring Station Trailhead will switch to hourly parking at $1 per hour, perfect for quick bike rides or walks.
- Stone Creek Golf Club remains an exception, with no parking fee required.
If you're a frequent park visitor, consider purchasing an annual or biannual parking pass—a cost-effective option that is valid at most county park sites. You’ll find maps, payment links, and specific parking fee information at the County Parks website.
Your Summer Escape: Camping, Events & Outdoor Fun
Looking to stay longer? Our parks offer a wide range of camping options, including walk-in, hammock, and van-accessible sites at Barton and Metzler Parks. These shady, quiet areas are perfect for unplugging and unwinding with friends or family.
- Feyrer Park has an improved playground, and Metzler Park is expanding its trail network, giving you more ways to explore.
- Picnic shelters and open spaces make ideal spots for birthday parties, company picnics, or even weddings.
- Keep an eye out for seasonal events, including rock climbing days and movies in the park for the whole family to enjoy.
And if you love spending time outdoors and want to give back, we're now recruiting camp hosts for the 2026 season, a great way to live in nature while supporting your local parks.
