OREGON CITY, Or. – With the National Weather Service issuing an extreme heat warning and heat advisory for Aug. 22-26, temperatures are expected to potentially reach 100 degrees or more. Clackamas County is urging residents to take precautions during the extreme heat by monitoring themselves, friends, family and pets

Clackamas County is also encouraging residents who don’t have alternative access to air conditioning to visit local cooling centers across the county, including the communities of Canby, Estacada, Gladstone, Happy Valley, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Molalla, Oregon City, Sandy, Welches, West Linn and Wilsonville.

Clackamas County will also assess the needs of other vulnerable populations, including those who are unsheltered, and make arrangements, as needed. This may include access to overnight sheltering at The Father’s Heart in Oregon City during all or part of this weather incident. The decision to open The Father’s Heart as an overnight cooling shelter is made by 11 a.m. each day and posted on our website.
