Oregon City, Oregon – Clackamas County’s Office of County Internal Audit has been nationally recognized for its excellent work.

The Association of Local Government Auditors, a national audit association that upholds and promote the highest standards of professional ethics in local governments, bestowed a 2025 Exemplary Knighton Awardto Clackamas County for best performance audit among local government audit organizations of similar size across the U.S. and Canada.
The Office of County Internal Audit provides independent investigative and advisory services to keep the county government accountable, transparent and high-performing.
The awarded audit, Asset Management: Implementing an asset management policy will improve transparency and accountability, was judged on elements including: the potential for significant impact, the persuasiveness of the conclusions, and the focus on improving government efficiency and effectiveness, among others.
The judges commented:
The audit recommendations were clearly connected to the findings and were appropriate for addressing risks while remaining specific and feasible. For instance, the recommendations to develop a countywide asset management policy and to enhance documentation of physical review and validation were focused, realistic, and aligned with existing structures. These recommendations clearly addressed root causes and included practical implementation considerations.
County Internal Auditor Jodi Cochran and Senior Internal Auditor Kathy Yeung make up the Office of County Internal Audit. The team traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, last month to receive the award.
