Celebrating National Fair Housing Month with Artwork and Resources

Did you know? April is National Fair Housing Month!

Congress passed the Fair Housing Act in 1968 with broad bipartisan support one week after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination. The advocacy of Dr. King and many other civil rights leaders paved the way for the passing of the Fair Housing Act. We honor their legacy by working to ensure everyone has access to decent, affordable housing in healthy, vibrant, well-resourced communities free from discrimination.

In celebration, local children across the state drew their idea of a neighborhood that welcomes everyone. Check out our fantastic artwork from elementary school children in Clackamas County below.

Fair housing laws prohibit discrimination in housing, so that all people can live in the housing of their choice that they can afford. Here at Clackamas County, we help renters through the Housing Rights and Resources Program and RentWell classes. Check out the resources and class schedules.

Are you a landlord who would like guidance on fair housing requirements? Check out our resources for landlords, including extra benefits and incentives
