Clackamas County to hold public hearings on potential data center moratorium
OREGON CITY, Ore. — The Board of County Commissioners will hold two public hearings in October to consider adopting a temporary moratorium on data center development in unincorporated Clackamas County and to hear from the community about how the county should regulate data centers.
The public hearings will be held:
Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m.
Both hearings will be held in person in the Board Meeting Room on the 4th floor of the county’s Public Services Building, 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City, with an option to participate online.
County staff will provide information about the criteria for establishing a moratorium. The staff presentation will be focused on those criteria.
The hearings are an opportunity for community members to share their opinion about the moratorium in particular, and to share questions, concerns, and other feedback about data centers in general.
After the public hearing process, the Board will decide whether to adopt a moratorium. Staff will not propose changes to county code related to data centers during the hearings. However, if the Board adopts a moratorium, public input from the hearings could help inform the Board's consideration of future code changes.
The county encourages members of the public to participate in person or online.
More information about how to attend the hearings and provide testimony is available on the Clackamas County website.
