  • Teresa brought the meeting to order 4:32pm.

Committee updates - All

  • Provide culturally and linguistically specific recovery support services to the Latino community.
  • Operating the only two recovery drop-in centers for and by Latino people in the state.

  • All locations have peer mentors, and all of our staff are bilingual and bicultural.
  • We have grant-funded case managers that are bilingual and bicultural. We serve all Latinos and have a specialty in monolingual Spanish speakers and people who are first generation, immigrants, and refugees.
  • We originated as a training organization, creating the first bilingual cohort for certified CADC's. Organized what is now called the Juntos Podemos conference.
  • Peers came into existence in 2015-2016 and our organization translated and enculturated the first certified recovery mentor training in the state for Latinos in Spanish and we are still doing these trainings.
  • During the pandemic we also translated and enculturated the peer wellness specialist certification into Spanish.
  • Advocacy/Legislative Committee: HB 2502, the recovery high school bill intended to expand the program has had some changes. There is a meeting on the 30th to talk about what that looks like moving forward.
  • Nominating Committee: Board of County Commissioners approved the council's recommendation to reappoint Bo and Catherine to 2 nd terms and appoint Mary Ann, Rae Gordon, and Adam Caba to 1st terms.
  • Suicide Prevention Coalition Update: The app for the suicide prevention services and resources for teens, adolescents, and parents is in beta testing phase. The funding is coming from the Clackamas Education Service District.
  • Director Update:
  • Division Director Update- we completed the first round of interviews and are moving forward to the second round of interviews on Monday the 28th , Cathy Horey will be the council's representative.
  • ICE townhall for Clackamas County staff Q&A, we have red cards in the 7 primary languages available to our clients

  • Teresa: Dr. Crystal Collier presenting Thursday 4/24.

  • Pam: The Westlinn and Wilsonville school district agreed to have Dr. Crystal Collier back for presentations to students and parents. I attended a conference around prevention work in Bend Oregon. On the second day there was a speaker that is part of a research group at John Hopkins.
  • Beto: Developing youth curriculum and youth board with youth peer mentors and teachers.

  • Mary Ann: Going to speak at a high school, Nami needs some young people for these events.

  • Adam Caba: Grande Ronde main street recovery house in Sheridan, this is not residential. It is a house where native people can come and stay, we offer peer, SUD, and mental health services in house. We go out and do lots of tribal activities with the Grande Ronde tribe. The tribe has opened this up to all enrolled Oregon tribal members. We give them a bed, we feed them, they attend groups, individual assessments. We are offering intensive outpatient services. The tribe is bringing their mobile medication unit out for anyone using MAT. We have 18 beds in the house and 12 beds in the hotel that is transitional.
  • Sara Clement: Reimagining Child Welfare Together April 30 th, see flyer attached. Just finished a project for the Oregon Child hotline, I and a few other peers shared our story, and we are going to be working on a brand-new mandated reporter training. Our parent advisory board has been working on a project where we are calling people who get child welfare calls that are closed at screening, we were awarded a three million dollar grant from the Doris Duke foundation, we will be focusing on the top 5 zip codes with the most calls
