Qualifying applicants will be placed in lottery pool; List will be drawn from for years for affordable housing placement

OREGON CITY, Or. -- The Housing Authority of Clackamas County (HACC) will open a housing waitlist – its project-based voucher waitlist – on Monday, July 28 at 8 a.m. until Thursday, July 31 at 5 p.m.

All interested individuals that meet low-income criteria are encouraged to apply. HACC will draw from this pool of applicants for years for future affordable housing opportunities. The last time HACC opened a housing waitlist was 2020.

Project-based vouchers, a form of federal housing choice vouchers, provide rent assistance that is tied to a specific apartment. That means that qualifying/selected households will receive the voucher for the units they are selected to occupy – they cannot use the voucher at a separate location.

Application information

  • Who can apply: These vouchers are intended to serve low-income households. To qualify, the household’s total income must not exceed 50% of area median income, based on family size. Review the income limits at www.clackamas.us/housingauthority/section8.html#participanteligibility.
  • How to apply: Individuals can apply online at our website, through an internet site operated by the county vendor Rent Cafe. For people who need help applying online, staff will be available to provide in-person assistance and computer access:

Once the application period closes, a random lottery will be held and approximately 500 names will be drawn to be placed on the waitlist. Applicants will not be selected first come, first served – anyone who applies during the application period has an equal chance at being selected for the waitlist. Duplicate application information will be removed before the lottery process. Those selected will be notified.
