Clerk McMullen Urges Voters to Mail Ballots Today or Use an Official Ballot Drop Site After May 12

Voter returns ballot to an official ballot drop site outside the Happy Valley LibraryOregon City, OR – With just seven days remaining until the May 19, 2026 Primary Election, Clackamas County voters still have time to cast their ballots.

Voters can complete their ballots from anywhere and return them either by mail or to an official ballot drop site. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day, May 19,2026. To ensure timely delivery, Clerk Catherine McMullen recommends mailing ballots today or returning them to an official ballot drop site after May 12. 

As the end of the day, Monday May 11, voter participation stands at 11.32%.   

“Oregon makes voting accessible for every citizen,” said Clerk Catherine McMullen. “Strong participation starts with returning your ballot early and making sure your voice is included.”

As Election Day approaches, Clerk McMullen encourages voters to keep the following in mind:

Check that you’ve received your ballot.

Ballots were mailed to eligible voters on April 29. If you have not received yours, contact Clackamas County Elections to check its status, update your registration, or request a replacement.

Voter service locations in Oregon City and Happy Valley provide in-person assistance and replace ballots. Services include:

  • Replacing lost or damaged ballots
  • Updating voter registration
  • Voting assistance for voters with disabilities
  • Language assistance
  • Returning ballots or voting in person

Locations are staffed by sworn election officiations, and voters may choose whichever site is most convenient.

Returning your ballot by mail

The United States Postal Service (USPS) prioritizes election mail but advises voters to send ballots early. Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, May 19 and received within seven days. Clerk McMullen recommends mailing your ballot back today or returning to an official ballot drop site after May 12.

Election observation opportunities

Members of the public are welcome to observe ballot processing and other election operations at the Clackamas County Election office in Oregon City. Designated observation areas are available to provide transparency into election processes.

The observation schedule is posted on the Clackamas County Election website. No advance sign-up is required, and visitors are accommodated as space allows, with consideration for safety and ongoing operations.
