DA sealEvery year, the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office sponsors an event, Honoring Victims of Crime, that highlights services available to crime victims, especially to families or individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual abuse, child abuse or elder abuse.

This year’s event will be held April 16 at the Circle of Honor Courtyard in front of the new courthouse, 1000 Courthouse Road, from 2-4:30 p.m.

People dealing with domestic violence or sexual abuse can get information that can help them escape the cycle of abuse. It doesn’t matter if the crime has not been reported. Prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and other professionals will be available to answer questions.

“When someone is the victim of a crime it can feel very lonely,” said Clackamas County District Attorney John Wentworth. “My goal, and the purpose of this event, is to let crime victims know these organizations are here to support you.”

That support comes in many forms: Help in escaping an abusive relationship, information about how sexual assault cases are handled, and explaining how child welfare investigations are conducted.

If you know someone who might benefit from learning about these services, please tell them about this event.

The Honoring Victims of Crime event is always held in April —rain or shine -- in conjunction with National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Crime Victims Rights Week.
