Sex abuse suspect sentenced to 25 years in prison

Date

29 year-old Mitchell Adair was sentenced to 25 years in prison after a Clackamas County jury found him guilty of multiple sex abuse charges involving a 12 year-old.

The Honorable Clackamas County Circuit Court Judge Todd L. Van Rysselberghe handed out the sentence Monday, Feb. 27. At the conclusion of a nearly four hour sentencing proceeding, Judge Van Rysselberghe noted that the sentence was warranted because of the serial nature of the defendant’s offenses that took place over many months, the impact the crimes had on the victim and the victim’s family, and the lack of empathy defendant continued to demonstrate.

Adair’s crimes were brought forward to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office after the victim disclosed the abuse to a family member.

A jury found Adair guilty of the following charges in September 2022:

  • Sodomy in the Second Degree (three counts)
  • Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the Second Degree
  • Sexual Abuse in the First Degree
