By Mail

  • Send check or money order only (no cash). Make it payable to Clackamas County Tax.
  • Mail in the windowed envelope from your tax statement.
  • Postmark your payment by Nov. 15 to receive discounts and avoid interest. If the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day.

    • E-check: $3

In Person

Discounts and Installments

  • Full payment by Nov. 15: 3% discount
  • 2/3 payment by Nov. 15: 2% discount; remainder due May 15
  • 1/3 payment by Nov. 15: no discount; remaining payments due Feb. 18 and May 15

Interest on late payments

  • 16% annually (1.333% monthly) on past-due amounts.
  • Electronic bill pay must arrive by the due date to qualify.
  • Returned checks do not qualify for discounts.

Delinquent Taxes and Foreclosure

  • Taxes unpaid by May 15 are delinquent.
  • Foreclosure begins when taxes are 3 years delinquent.
  • Payments are applied to the earliest year owed first.

Prepayment

  • Unless authorized by law, no prepayments of property taxes that have not been certified by a taxing district shall be collected or accepted. Examples of law allowing prepayment of taxes include recording a subdivision, creating a condominium or moving a manufactured home.
