Payments
We accept e-check, debit, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa cards for electronic payments. Cash, cashier’s checks, checks and money orders for in person payments.
Bank collected service fees are charged on Credit Cards and e-Checks payments.
Refunds
The Building Official is authorized to establish a refund policy. (OSSC 109.6 & ORSC 108.5)
Refundable Fees
If you no longer need a permit, you may be eligible for a partial refund of your permit fees as noted below:
- Prescriptive Solar Permits – These permits are eligible for up to a 40% refund of the permit fees.
- Permits requiring plan review – The plan review fees non-refundable. Permit is eligible for up to an 80% refund on the permit fees if permit was issued.
- Permits not requiring plan review – These permits are eligible for up to an 80% refund on the permit fees.
A refund request must be received within 180 days of the date the permit was issued or accepted for plan review. We cannot issue a refund if work on the project has started or if inspections have been performed.
All refund requests must be in writing and shall include.
- Permit number
- Job site address
- Reason for the refund
The request may be submitted in person, by email or by mail.

Non-refundable Fees
State surcharges are not refundable and will not be included in the calculation.
Bank collected service fees are non-refundable.
Fees paid to other county programs may require additional approval and may be subject to a different refund policy.
Any non-county fees collected for other government agencies are not refundable through the county. Those agencies must be contacted directly about their refund procedures.
