We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards for electronic permits.
The receipt you get from the state e-permitting system is your authority to begin work; however: you must also transfer your information to the county permit system so the work can be tracked and inspections scheduled. You cannot schedule an inspection until the county has issued the permit.
If you file for a permit during the business day, we will make every effort to send you a county permit that day. If you apply for a permit outside of normal business hours, we will process your permit the next business day.
Please include your email address or fax number in your application. Permits without an email or fax contact will be mailed.
You may schedule inspections as soon as the county permit is issued. To schedule an inspection, find the inspection code and call our Inspection Request System at 503-742-4720, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If your plans change and you no longer need a permit, we will refund up to 80% of your permit fee if no work has been done and/or no inspections have been made. Please note: we cannot issue a refund if work has been done or inspections have been performed.
For permit applications that have been processed, we accept refund requests within 180 days of the date the permit was issued. To request a refund, you must submit a written request to our office. Written requests can be sent by mail, fax or email.

When requesting a refund please note state surcharges are not included in the calculation and are not refunded.
- $25 of the permit fee will be retained to cover handling cost, regardless of the percentage calculation.
- If you have other active permits on your project with fees owed, we may be able to transfer permit credits from old permits to new applications. Please contact us at 503-742-4400 if you would like to explore this option.
Our office will refund 100% of any fee that was collected by mistake.
