On Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, family called to report 77 year-old Ulrike Reinoeh had walked away from her daughter’s home located near Dodge Park in unincorporated Clackamas County.  Reinoeh recently diagnosed with dementia had only recently been living at the residence.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue (SAR) Coordinators activated a search mission, Search crews deployed to the area to assist in the effort included:

CSAR ground searchers, two K9 teams, and a drone, searched the river banks, local roads, trails, and Dodge Park. CSAR Trailing K9 Poppy, and her handler tracked approximately 2 miles down Marsh road, through Dodge Park and along an unmarked trail on the west side of the Sandy River before being relieved.

As it became dark, a SAR Coordinator who was familiar with the area, suggested searching a maze of fisherman’s trails downstream along the west bank of the Sandy River with a fresh CSAR K9.

Around 7 p.m., CSAR K9 Jacqui, and her handler lead the team to Reinoeh who was cold and lying under a fallen tree. Reinoeh had walked nearly two- and one-half miles from the residence. With some warming and encouragement Reinoeh was able to walk to a team that had hiked in with a wheeled litter. She was transported to a waiting ambulance.

Thank you to all the search crews who participated in the effort, and to all those who helped spread the word.
