Appointment meeting set for Senate District 26 replacement

Date

Public comments to be taken

Following the resignation of State Senator Daniel Bonham from Oregon State Senate District 26, Clackamas, Hood River, Multnomah and Wasco County commissioners will hold a joint session on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. to interview candidates and select a replacement for the open position.

The meeting will be held on Zoom (the Zoom link is available online), and the public is welcome to watch virtually and provide comments.

Finalists for the open position were selected by the state Republican Party (as deemed by state law), since Bonham belongs to that party.

The three nominees are:

  • Rep. Christine Drazan
  • John Grant
  • Rep. Jeff Helfich

Since time to speak during the meeting will be limited, members of the public who wish to support a nominee are strongly encouraged to instead submit their remarks in writing to bcc@clackamas.us

Submissions received by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 will be shared with all commissioners prior to the meeting.

Those who still wish to speak during the meeting should register in advance using the virtual meeting link above. Due to time constraints, speaking at the meeting is not guaranteed.

The commissioners look forward to receiving as much public participation as possible.
