Scammers target Happy Valley Business; Happy Valley Police remind community to stay vigilant against fraud

At around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024, a deputy assigned to the Happy Valley Police Department responded to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, located at 13200 SE 172nd Ave in Happy Valley, to investigate a fraud. While on scene, the deputy spoke with the co-owners of the business, who reported two of their employees had been scammed out of over $1,200.
Two Clackamas County deputies are back on patrol after being shot one year ago

Sunday, June 30th marked one year since Deputies Dan Blair and Jeremy McKenna were shot while responding to a burglary in progress call.
We are incredibly grateful and happy to share that after months of recovery, both Deputy Blair and Deputy McKenna are back in uniform and once again patrolling Clackamas County.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies were notified by dispatch that Portland Police Bureau’s (PPB) air unit was tracking a suspected stolen vehicle into Clackamas County that had been driving recklessly and attempting to elude officers. The vehicle entered into the Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center’s parking structure located at 10180 SE Sunnyside Road, Clackamas.

A Clackamas County Grand Jury has indicted Eliazar Martinez-Rodriguez, age 33, of Portland, for Murder in the Second Degree for the June 22, 2024, stabbing of Jefferson Smith Cates, age 30, of Portland.
Detectives identified Martinez-Rodriguez as a person of interest early in the investigation, and he was taken into custody the following day in Clackamas on an unrelated federal parole violation warrant.
