Former Strowbridge-Benson Farmhouse proposed to be moved or demolished

The property owners of the Strowbridge-Benson farmhouse, an historic building in unincorporated Clackamas County have applied to the county to move or demolish the building. The 1904 historic farmhouse is located at 18089 S Strowbridge Road, approximately 1,550 feet south of the intersection of S. Strowbridge Rd and S Charriere Rd. east of Oregon City and northwest of Estacada.

The property owner is evaluating options for moving the building and is asking the Clackamas County Historic Review Board to consider a request to demolish the building while the property owner considers alternatives. 

The Historic Review Board will consider the application and make a recommendation at a virtual meeting scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023. The public is welcome to attend and participate in the public comment portion of the meeting. The link to the meeting will be available on our webpage

The two-story, Queen Ann-style farmhouse is part of a farm complex that includes a log cellar, two barns and granary. The small farmhouse has gable peaks, turned posts, brackets, full-width porch with hip roof and gable above entrance, double-hung windows with architrave molding, a recessed porch with overhead sliding doors and hip roof, and horizontal wood siding.
