May is Mental Health Awareness Month, dedicated to breaking the stigma about mental health and raising awareness of both prevention and treatment.

The NAMIWalks Northwest event on Sunday, May 21 at Peninsula Park in Portland is the largest mental health event in the Northwest, bringing people together to make a statement that mental health matters; recovery is possible; and people living with mental illness are a valuable part of our community. The event raises funds and awareness that help us keep NAMI programs available to all who need them, at no cost to participants.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Health, Housing & Human Services Department are joining forces again this year to create a NAMIWalks Northwest team that shows the region how Clackamas County supports Mental Health Awareness. Our goal is to be the top fundraising team – we’d love for you to join us!

You don’t have to actually participate in the walk to be part of the team, although we’d certainly love to have you with us on May 21. You can make a financial contribution, or simply show your moral support by adding your name to the team.
