Tourism Development Council

The Clackamas County Board of Commissioners (BCC) is seeking county residents to fill four (4) vacancies on the Tourism Development Council (TDC).  One (1) of these vacancies is available for reappointment. The TDC guides tourism programs funded through the county’s Transient Room Tax (TRT) and are authorized by County Ordinance to oversee tourism promotion and development in Clackamas County. The TDC is comprised of nine members, appointed to a three-year term by the BCC.

Commissioners are looking for 3 (three) applicants with a current management affiliation with a lodging property located within the county and 1 (one) with an affiliation with one (1) of tourism’s three (3) pillars:  Outdoor Recreation, Agritourism, or Cultural/Heritage Tourism.  Those with a broad perspective and strong interest in implementing an energized and comprehensive tourism program for the county will be the preferred candidates. Board members reflect and represent the diverse population and geographic regions of the county.
The TDC currently meets the second Wednesday of the month from 2 – 4 p.m., currently via zoom.  In person meetings are held several times a year at locations around the county.

The TDC develops, adopts, and implements, subject to the BCC’s approval, a Tourism Master Plan. Additionally, the TDC develops a 5-Yr Strategic Plan and an Annual Business Plan to address tourism promotion and development, visitor information services, and special events and festivals in Clackamas County as described in the county’s Transient Room Tax Ordinance, approved by voters in 1992. Currently, County TRT collections are approximately $5.2 million annually.
