Clackamas County Commissioners are seeking interested residents to serve on county Advisory Boards and Commissions (ABCs). These ABCs offer residents the opportunity to become very involved in specific activities and the goals of Clackamas County.

Compensation Board for Elected Officials
Interested in reviewing and recommending elected officials’ salaries?
Clackamas County is seeking residents knowledgeable in human resources and compensation administration to serve on the county’s Compensation Board for Elected Officials. There is currently one vacancy on this three-member board. Members serve a four-year term and attend four to five meetings (typically 2 hours each) between February and April.
The Compensation Board for Elected Officials is responsible to conduct an annual review of Clackamas County elected officials' salaries and to submit a recommended compensation schedule to the county’s Budget Committee. Subject salaries include those for the county sheriff, assessor, treasurer, clerk, commissioners, district attorney and justice of the peace.
In order to have balance and diversity of membership, commissioners are looking for members from all backgrounds and areas of Clackamas County.

Clackamas Community Health Council
The council currently has openings for 14 additional members, comprised of consumers, patients, and clients only. The council oversees operations, budgets, and quality measures at the health centers clinics throughout the county. Per federal requirements, the council must be composed of a majority of patient members, therefore current patients (or their guardians) will be given priority to join the council to maintain compliance. The council conducts business through public meetings that are held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the county’s Development Services Building in Oregon City. Note: Due to COVID-19, meetings are primarily held in a virtual format until further notice.
Council members are not required to have expertise in healthcare, but should be interested in improving the quality of care and patient experience in the health centers. Council members should be comfortable working with a diverse group of people and willing to reach consensus on various topics and make recommendations to health centers leadership and the Board of County Commissioners. Individuals who represent all geographic areas and demographics are highly valued by the council.

NCPRD Milwaukie Community Center Advisory Board
The board has two openings, which carry a three-year term. The board is the primary policy advisor regarding the activities and operations of the Milwaukie Community Center, and also addresses the needs of older adults and people with disabilities in the area. Duties include addressing the programs and facilities of the Milwaukie Community Center concentrating on the needs, and desires of the senior citizens and others within NCPRD boundaries. Board members must either live or work within the NCPRD boundaries.
The Milwaukie Community Center is a North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) facility. The board meets on the second Friday of each month at the Milwaukie Community Center.

Aging Services Advisory Council (ASAC)
ASAC has six vacancies, each carrying a three-year term. This 21-member council advises the Clackamas County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) on all matters relating to the development and administration of the Clackamas County Area Plan and provides input on other areas of importance to the senior population. ASAC conducts business through meetings on the third Monday of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., either on Zoom or in the county’s Development Services Building in Oregon City.
The council actively seeks members from all regions of the county, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and cultures. The lived experience of council members is valued, including but not limited to: experience living with a low income; being housing insecure, transit dependent, or socially isolated; living with a disability; and/or being a caregiver.
Members must reside within the boundaries of Clackamas County or work in programs that serve seniors in Clackamas County.

Veterans Advisory Council (VAC)
VAC has seven vacancies for members who are veterans, each carrying a two-year term. This 19-member council advises the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners (BCC) and the Department of Health, Housing, and Human Services (H3S) on all matters relating to the provision of services to veterans, their families, and their dependents, including how to ensure that their needs are recognized and addressed in a timely manner. VAC conducts business through meetings from 2:30-3:30pm on the fourth Thursday of each month either on Zoom or in the county’s Development Services Building in Oregon City.
The council actively seeks members from all branches of service and all eras, as well as all regions of the county, races, ethnicity, sexual orientations, and cultures.
