Residents encouraged to attend, email observations, fill out survey

In the first virtual Town Hall event of 2026 for Clackamas County Commissioners, residents are invited to attend and relay experiences related to the county’s short-term rental regulation (STR) pilot program, launched in late 2023.

The event will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18 over Zoom.

In late 2023, the Board of County Commissioners approved and established the STR pilot program. Prior to that time, the unincorporated areas of Clackamas County had no STR regulations.

The Board is soliciting thorough public input on experiences with the program – from STR operators, neighbors, and the general community – prior to determining the future of the program.

At the town hall, commissioners wish to hear about:

  • What are the public’s thoughts about the current pilot program’s regulations? What has worked, and what hasn’t?
  • What has changed about STRs since the pilot program went into effect in late 2023?
  • Does the public think that the Board of County Commissioners should make the regulations permanent? If yes to permanency, should there be tweaks? If no to permanency, why?

Guests will include Clackamas County Commissioners. The public is encouraged to read the STR regulations, and more about the program.

During the event, feedback and observations from residents are encouraged. As the event will be recorded and available later online, residents are strongly encouraged to send comments ahead of time over email to clackconews@clackamas.us, with the subject line “STR Town Hall.” Comments may be shortened for time.

Commissioners rely on public feedback and concerns to help guide policies and county actions. This session will directly impact commissioners’ future plans for STR regulation. Please be advised that the Board or the Chair reserves the right to stop comments that are out-of-order or off-topic.

Previous town hall meeting topics and archives can be found online.

Survey

Commissioners are also seeking public feedback about the STR regulation pilot program through a community-wide survey. All interested parties are strongly encouraged to take that survey before it closes on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m.

In-person town hall

Another town hall on the issue – an in-person event – is planned for April 1 in the Mt. Hood community. The public is welcome to attend it as well, details will be provided on our Town Hall webpage.
