On April 10, 2023, Governor Tina Kotek announced $85.2 million for local homelessness emergency plans. This funding will meet the goals of the declared state of emergency to address Oregon’s long-growing unsheltered homelessness crisis.
From the state-wide total, Clackamas County will receive $4.435 million for rapid rehousing and street outreach. These dollars will address critical gaps in our system, particularly in our rural communities.
In addition to the $4.435 million, Clackamas County is also pleased to have received a separate $1.9 million for eviction prevention and rent assistance through the early funding package.
In the short term, the funding will be allocated on a one-time basis to existing contracted service providers and direct-service programs to quickly meet the emergency order goals. Longer term, Clackamas County will address one of our biggest gaps, which is the availability of funding to serve rural areas. This funding will help the county build a geographically equitable system of care that it has long needed.
